Boston Red Sox outclass Chicago White Sox 10-3 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox looked in terrific form on Thursday, April 26 at the U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois as they beat Chicago White Sox 10-3 to take 1-0 lead in their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Bobby Valentine and company will be very pleased with the way they handled difficult situations in a game that proved to be completely one sided at the end.
Adrian Gonzalez made the most of available opportunities as the game started and he doubled to the left field to help Dustin Pedroia score the first run. Boston’s advantage was doubled in the second when David Ortiz singled to left centre.
Chicago put a great fight in the bottom of the first to reduce Red Sox’s lead to 2-1. Their leading offensive player, Paul Konerko doubled to deep centre and Adam Dunn scored.
Both teams failed to put up a run on the board in the second. Kevin Youkilis, who is one of the most talented players in MLB right now, broke the deadlock in the third as homered to the right field and Gonzalez and Ortiz scored with the bases loaded.
"We had our reports on watching Phil," Youkilis said. "He's a guy who's going to throw strikes and go at you. You have to be ready to hit."
"When a guy gets his first when you're managing, it's a special night," Valentine said. "Felix got his first win, Tazawa got his first save . it's a good little memory for me, and them, too."
Jarrod Saltalamacchia forced the White Sox out of the game completely as he homered twice to give his side an impassable lead. Starter Felix Doubront gave up three runs in six solid innings.
"(My swing) feels good right now," Saltalamacchia said. "Right now I'm just trying to put good wood on the ball and stay consistent with my approach."
Saltalamacchia looked extremely comfortable on the plate and he showed just why he is an asset for the Red Sox. With just eight wins in their eighteen games this season, Boston will be looking to bring consistency in their game play now.
