Boston Red Sox outclass Colorado Rockies 11-4 – MLB news
Boston Red Sox continued their marvellous winning streak as they annihilated the Colorado Rockies 11-4 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 25 in the opening game of their two match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball regular season.
The Red Sox started the game on a very aggressive and continued to put pressure on their opponents right till the end. Red Sox’s batting lineup in particular played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash, making the most of available opportunities.
With their win the Red Sox improved their record to 46-33 to keep their first place on the American League East Division standings table. It will be interesting to see if John Farrell and his men can keep up the good work throughout this season to make it
to the playoffs.
Starting pitcher Ryan Dempster put up a great performance as he allowed just six hits and two runs in six solid innings to grab his fifth win of the season. Striking out batters at regular intervals, he ensured the Red Sox had complete control of the situation.
“We have an incredible offense. So you just go out there and worry about doing your job. It's just making pitches and executing pitches,” Dempster said. “The wins come as a team more than an individual. That's all I care about is that when I start, we win
the game. I want to give us a chance to win the game and was able to do that tonight. And we put up a lot of runs.”
“It's a good hitting club,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. “You've really got to command your stuff with that lineup or they make you pay.”
Relief pitcher Alex Wilson, Craig Breslow and Pedro Beato also made useful contributions on the mound to help the Red Sox hold on to their lead comfortably. Dustin Pedroia and Daniel Nava provided the Red Sox with a perfect start. David Ortiz doubled to
left centre and Mike Napoli singled to left in the seventh to give their side an impassable 11-4 lead, which lasted until the end of the contest.
