Boston Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford accepts apology of John W. Henry – MLB News
Former Tampa Bay Rays’ and current Boston Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford has recently came out in the media and accepted the apology of team’s principle owner John W. Henry, who previously was not in favour of signing him for various reasons.
Carl Crawford said, “He called me into the interview room and we talked alone. You know, when someone is genuinely sorry for something. And he was sorry for what he said. And I apologized for the season I had. Had I played better he wouldn’t have had to
say that. That’s one of the things we talked about at the meeting. Put 2011 behind us and worry about this year.”
Earlier, Henry said after his private meeting with Crawford. “I needed to apologize to him for that and for creating all this hoopla. I let him know how I felt about him as a player. I should never have made those comments.”
Crawford, who is a good player, was signed by the Red Sox in 2011, but at that particular time, Henry was not in favour of his particular signing. He thought that Crawford is an extra burden for the franchise who yet to stable his position financially. Though
nobody knew as what were other true objectives behind it, but as soon as Henry mentioned this in the media, the top management feared as Crawford might leave the franchise soon, so they put pressure on Henry to send an apology to Crawford in order to stop
any weird situation ahead of next Major League season.
Carl Crawford, having 10 years experience, certainly is a productive player and has showed some tremendous performances in the past. According to his comments, he not only felt a sense of importance, but he also believed in his game after receiving the apology.
The apology from Henry now will work in many ways. The Red Sox will play more aggressive game and at the same time Crawford’s own game will also achieve further excellence. Currently he is busy with the team in Arizona in 2012 Spring Training and also feeling
confident ahead of next big event in the league.
