Boston Red Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks arrested on DUI charges – MLB News
The Boston Red Sox’s talented and one of the best pitchers in the American League East, Bobby Jenks, is having some troubles with his bad conduct after playing an exceptional role in Spring Training for his team. He has been recently arrested by the Florida police on Driving under Influence (DUI) including damaging of personal property charges.
"We have been made aware of a situation regarding Bobby Jenks and take such matters seriously," a team statement said. "We are gathering information."
The state police caught him during night time patrolling and took him under custody. The Lee County, Florida police also made charges against Jenks of leaving the scene after an accident happened during his presence early Friday evening.
Jenks, a seven-year veteran has also been involved in the past in various kinds of misdemeanour acts and on which the Major League Baseball has punished him as well. Previously, during his Minor League career, the Anaheim Angels demoted him from its Class AA for bringing constantly beer into the team vehicle. Though later he denied all these allegations by the farm franchise, but his image was already portrayed as bad boy in the small league. His justification came as he has four children and knowing the responsibility, he pretty much knows what will be the repercussions of this kind of act all together.
"I no longer drink," he said. "No alcohol at all. Not even a beer here or there. Just things like that, really focusing on the future. It was a personal choice. It hadn't gotten too much. I just found myself not wanting to [drink] anymore. I just wanted to be more of a family man. Then this last year, I came to Christ and that was a big influence on my life."
Jenks, whose presence will prove a difference for the Red Sox among four other American League East franchises next season, should realise his responsibility and avoid these kinds of conduct confrontations. His recent arrest has also made the Red Sox little alarmed, but as soon as he comes out, he should be focusing on his game and start another beginning for a better next baseball season.
