Boston Red Sox show interest in Mike Napoli – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox’s management is currently showing their desperation to sign veteran Major League Baseball catcher Mike Napoli.
Red Sox, these days are busy in shopping some free agents while sources have speculated with slight facts and figures that South Boston baseball franchise want Napoli first.
Other player who might get a deal with the Red Sox is Nick Swisher. Some say, though Red Sox have great interest in former Texas Rangers star but still this is not certain that Napoli will also agree on a mutual understanding soon.
Both sides are waiting for Monday when Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings will start at Nashville to determine their final stance on a possible deal.
“Some teams are three or four years away. That’s how a lot of guys look at Seattle, Houston, Boston could be there in a year. It’s still the Boston Red Sox,” a second industry source said.
On the other hand, some say that Rangers, Napoli’s former club still wants his services behind the plate.
Even Napoli had told a renowned sports website, ESPN Dallas, after the season, in which he explained his desire to remain in the club as well, “I love playing in Texas, I love the atmosphere there, the clubhouse, playing for Wash, a winning ball club. I love playing there. I know how the Rangers clubhouse is, and it’s amazing.”
He added, “I’ve never been a part of anything like that in terms of chemistry and how everyone is. There’s been a bunch of teams that have called my agent and shown interest, and we’re going to listen.”
Napoli is highly talented player and possesses large Major League experience. He started his career in 2006 with the Los Angeles Angels while later he joined the Texas Rangers in 2011.
During his career so far, he has achieved consistence .259 hitting average along with 146 home-runs, 380 RBI and .356 OBP.
He last played for the Texas Rangers and showed his great skills and achieved consistent numbers of .227 hitting average along with 24 home-runs, 56 RBIs and 343 OBP.
