Boston Red Sox sign veteran starting pitcher Aaron Cook – MLB News
The Boston Red Sox are currently looking in great shape to compete in the next Major League season. They are busy acquiring new players in order to bring more stability in their 40-man roster ahead of next year.
Sources are reporting that former Colorado Rockies ace string pitcher Aaron Cook has now agreed to sign with the Red Sox Minor League franchise.
Though, it is not clear yet as whether he will be able to play in the Major League next year but sources are commenting that if Cook does make a potential arrival in Boston’s team, he will be earning an extra amount of money approximately up-to $1.55 million.
The Red Sox and Aaron Cook have still to come out in the media for an official announcement regarding the other details of this late deal.
Having played nine years of professional baseball and at the highest level, Cook will certainly bring more stability in the Red Sox farm system in the near future.
Experts also believe that the Red Sox management has done an intelligent step giving Cook a Minor League contract instead signing him for their big league team.
Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington has also commented in the media appreciating Cook’s arrival in their farm system where younger player will learn many things from him.
On Cook’s credit, who has previously played his entire career in the Rockies' roster, is joining the Red Sox with a strong stats’ background.
Last year, playing consistently at 6.03 ERA along with 3-10 win loss record, 48 strike-outs and 1.69 WHIP, Cook received appreciation from many baseball experts. He was not only consistent with his throwing but he also did not allow any hitters to go after him freely.
Talking about his overall career performance in which he has achieved 4.53 ERA along with 72-68 win loss record, 558 strike-outs and 1.47 WHIP so far also shows his great pitching abilities.
However, for his future performances, Cook’s fans have to wait for the next Minor League season to start while Aaron Cook’s focus will always be on the potential possibility of his chances to start in a Major League game.
