Boston Red Sox stun Chicago White Sox 3-1 – MLB Update
Boston Red Sox put up another great show on Thursday, July 19 as they beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts in the finale of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Cody Ross had another excellent outing with the bat as he hit a match winning home-run in the bottom of the ninth to help Boston secure a much needed series victory.
Ross’ five year old son stood behind him as he sat in the dugout and talked to the journalists. The right fielder looked very happy with his effort and he aimed to give similar results throughout the season.
Ross has done remarkably well this year. His average of .274 is considerably higher than career average. With 16 home-runs and 50 RBI’s, he has led the Red Sox to many crucial wins.
Starting pitcher Clay Buchholz showed great control over his fastballs and curveballs. The guy pitched eight effective innings, striking-out six and giving up just a run.
"I've always wanted to be up in those situations since I was like my son's age," Ross said. "It's a great feeling, especially when you're the hero."
"I was sitting on the couch watching," Clay Buchholz said. "He's been in big situations and is a guy that thrives in those situations most of the year."
"You go back and forth and make decisions, figure them out," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said of electing to open the inning with Thornton. "You got the two lefties coming up with Crawford and Gonzalez, so you know you know you still got Reeder out there."
Credit should be given to the Bobby Valentine for coming up with the perfect winning formula against the White Sox. With three wins in four games, the Red Sox dominated their opponents more often than not.
Right now, the Red Sox are placed third on the American League East Division standings table and it will be interesting to see if they can continue their excellent form in their upcoming games to grab one of the wild card spots.
