Boston Red Sox tie with Toronto Blue Jays 3-3 – MLB Spring Training Recap
Justin Germano produced an outstanding performance as he helped Boston Red Sox tie with Toronto Blue Jays 3-all at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium Florida on Wednesday, March 7 in a Grapefruit league encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training
session.
The match was played on an extremely competitive note as the momentum shifted one way and the other. The Red Sox showed great determination, fighting spirit and mental strength to bounce back after they trailed 1-3 in the third inning.
Germano, who has been struggling to find consistency for the past six big league seasons, put up a match winning show as he pitched two shutout innings to help his side tie the game with the Blue Jays. Although the starter is not on Boston’s roster for this
season, he was invited for to the training camp. It will be interesting to see if he can make the most of available opportunities to change the course of his career.
"If you go out there and make a good impression, anybody's got a chance," Germano said.
"Coming out of spring training I really look for 10 starting pitchers and a whole bunch of relievers," Valentine said. "I think he's very usable in a starting role. I don't know whether he's going to be on our team breaking camp, but he could."
"There really was no motive to go knowing you weren't going to make the team. The opportunity was here, and the chance to be part of this organization, I couldn't pass that up," he added.
The game had to be stopped after the ninth innings after the Blue Jays reported that they were short on players. Edwin Encarnacion displayed some high quality hitting skills for the Jays as he earned two run single to put his team 3-1 ahead in the third
inning.
Boston Red Sox were unable to achieve their desired goals last season. After making key changes to the squad, manager Bobby Valentine will be hoping to make it to the World Series. It will be exciting to see if the Red Sox can live up to the expectations.
