Boston Red Sox’s first baseman Adrian Gonzalez out from team lineup – MLB Update
The Boston Red Sox talented and veteran first baseman Adrian Gonzalez will not be playing in the next couple of games as he has been dropped from team’s batting lineup due to stretched playing time on the field.
It is interesting that he has been dropped from the lineup for the first time after appearing in total 66 straight games since the start of 2012 Major League Baseball season.
On Sunday night against the Chicago Cubs, he watched the game from outside the field and looked somewhat confident as his team won the game 7-4 with complete authority.
After the game, his absence was noticed by few reporters, who asked couple of questions from the Red Sox’s skipper Bobby Valentine regarding Gonzalez’s rest.
Red Sox manager, who was quite overjoyed with his team’s recent win against the struggling Cubs, talked to the media personals with confidence and answered their all questions regarding Gonzalez with detail.
"He thought so, after the game yesterday, too, Kind of a mutual admiration society. He's another one who has done everything we've asked. To be given an inkling that a day is needed and me not to receive the message would be something I would regret. It's been a tough stretch... Trying to read it.'' Valentine said.
Valentine knows that how important Gonzalez is for his team’s future positive results. During question-answer session, he also talked to media that it was quite needed that the management would give him some time to take little rest as he has been playing nonstop baseball from Opening Day.
Gonzalez, on the other hand, who recently spoke to the media regarding his own level of performance, also recognising this fact as this little out of lineup strategy, will give him some extra boost which will help his game to groom as well.
“I’m not worried about that, When I hit 40 [in 2009], I hit 20 in the first two months. I can go on those streaks. I’m not worried about that, Just trying to get to that swing. From there, Defense doesn’t carry over to offense,” Gonzalez said.
In the meanwhile, the Monday is scheduled off of the Boston Red Sox as the team prepare to take on Miami Marlins from Tuesday, June 19 in their three-match regular series encounter.
