Boston Whaler Tender to Catalina?

Can I take a Whaler to Catalina? Is it too small for the trip?

  1. The channel can be very rough and dangerous.  With that in mind, a Whaler should be able to do it in the right conditions.  The swell is going to be mostly broadside to your boat but it the wave faces are not too steep you'll be ok.

    Make sure you have a VHF aboard!

I have a Boston Whaler 15' sport with a 50 H.P. motor, It's a great boat, and can go places that any other 15' boat can only "DREAM" of but, keep in mind that it is NOT "SEA WORTHY", it is under 16' and considered a "TENDER", although "Whaler's" will NOT sink, they can still flip over like a regular boat, Never push your boat past it's "LIMITS" !

I tow a Boston w 13 with a 50hp behind my 40Endeavor Great boat when you got there but> like pulling a house behind you< & be carefull in a followling sea as it will be running into you Tow with engine down for drag>It's self bailing right>>?An have good fenders on the hull as it will drive you crazy at night banging into the hull>
