Botany degrees?

it seems no schools in the northeast have degrees in botany.

which schools offer degrees in botony? I suppose I could study 2 years here in illinois on horticulture, then move to a school to get the botany degree right?

  1. A lot of botany departments have been incorporated into biological sciences.  If you look at universities with colleges of agriculture, they probably have some type of botany program, including horticulture and plant pathology.  Sometimes you might have to look for plant biology or plant sciences.

    Here are a few universities with botany programs, not all have botany departments per se.

    Ohio University, Athens, OH

    Miami University, Oxford, OH

    Ohio State University

    University of Maryland

    University of Mass

    Cornell University

    Rutgers University

    University of Wisconsin

    University of Michigan

    Michigan State University

    Iowa State University

    University of Georgia, Athens

    University of Florida

    Indiana University

    University of Illinois

    Out west:  University of Washington, University of California (Davis).

    There are many other excellent programs in plant sciences.  Those in the above lists are the first to come to mind.
