The funny thing is that ive been in Botany for more than a year and my teacher has not taught us anythng about the basic care of plants. Not to be stereotypical but teachers in public skewls should go back and get training.Anyways i planted some apple seeds from washington and there growing alot. There prety cool looking i like the stems there like a dark redish. The original apple was red from washington thats all i know.Idk the name.Do you think it will fully grow in Illinois? How can i care for it?

  1. Water, sunshine, and a big pot you will need.

  2. Before you go slagging your teachers too much, you should know that Botany (the study of plants) is not exactly the same as Horticulture (the cultivation of plants).

Add to that the fact that there are around 250,000 species of flowering plants, 800 or so species of gymnosperms, etc. and it's hard to boil down "basic care" of plants into even a small part of one course. What applies for orchids likely won't apply to apple trees, and those care instructions won't apply to cacti, which won't apply to a spruce, etc.
