Question:

Both an iphone and a blackberry?

Well, right now I have a blackberry pearl but am looking at getting an iphone. My question is, if I got the iphone would I still be able to use the BB by switching the Sim card or do they each have their own data plans? I think I heard that the BB has its own data plan? If I buy the iphone will I be charged for using data on the BB if I switch the Sim card? Also, I have AT&T and have unlimited data but does it only apply to the BB? Sorry, I hope this made sense.

p.s. I don't want opinions on what you think is best or any comments from apple or BB fanboys just a good answer to my question. Thank you.

  1. I have an iPhone and a BlackBerry Curve.  I unlocked my iPhone and use it on T-Mobile with the SIM and data plan form my BlackBerry.  Works great!

Your situation is more complicated... you wouldn't be able to use your BlackBerry SIM in a locked iPhone, and if you used your iphone SIM in your BlackBerry you wouldn't have the BlackBerry plan.  So the answer is NO, I don't think you could do what you want easily unless you left AT&T and unlocked your iPhone (easy and free at ziphone.org).

I'd suggest you check out blackberryforums.com or howardforums.com - both good resources.  good luck!

  2. I am going to be honest when I got my Iphone I used the one I had from my previous phone. For the iphone all you do is hook it up to Itunes and you will do your bill there and figure that all out. But I want to be honest, I am on my fifth iphone. It keeps freezing or just overheats. Beware of that issue. I would trade you my phone for you blackberry pearl anyday. Just my 2 cents
