I have them in laundry baskets in the room they had them in. What I want to know is, do I let them run around the house, or do I keep them in a large room. When do I put a litter box in with them? My house is pretty big, so I'm afraid they might not always find the litter box. Also can I mix both the litters (kittens) together?

  1. Do you plan on keeping all those kitties? I would but i love cats but it would be kinda expensive and such. But I would keep them in a room for awhile until they can open their eyes. Then slowly let them have more space. So they can adjust. I would keep a litter box in the same room at all times, don't move it or they'll get confused on where to go potty.

  2. we had the same thing happen to us a few years ago.  they were sisters and they had their litters 3 days apart.  i wasnt sure how it would work either but they actually moved all their kittens together and fed them all together in the same box.  quite the Kodak family moment.  its on video tape and all.  although i really dont think that this is normal. just keep a close eye on all of them and the mothers will do what comes natural. dont force anything on them though expecually if they are first time moms.  you might really confuse them.good luck.

  3. mix the kittens and the mother cat will kill them. one mother cat will kill the other cats litter and the other mother will kill the other litter. litter box is good, I guess, but the kittens will continue to p**p every where. keep the mother cats apart until the kittens are at least four weeks to five weeks old, so they can defend themselves against the other mom cat, or wait until they are not dependant of their mother's milk.

  4. FIND AN AREA THAT IS CONSIDERED A ......NURSERY.  IT IS BIG ENOUGH FOR THEM TO RUN IN AND WILL CONTAIN A LITTER BOX, FOOD AND WATER.

I USED A LARGE BATHROOM AND BOUGHT A PLASTIC BOARD THAT YOU CAN BUY AT HOME DEPOT.  IT WAS SLIGHTLY BIGGER THAN THE DOORWAY AND I BENT IT INTO THE DOORWAY.

IT WAS ABOUT WAIST HIGH AND BIG ENOUGH FOR MAMA TO ESCAPE BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR THE KITTENS.

ONE LITTER I RESCUED FROM A METH HOUSE AND SINCE THE SUMMER WAS WARM, I LET ALL 11 KITTENS STAY IN THE BACKYARD.  WHEN THEY WERE OLD ENOUGH TO CLIMB THE FENCE, I WAS ABLE TO GIVE THEM TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY.

GOOD LUCK AND GIVE ALL BABIES KISSES FOR ME !!!!

  5. I had two females who had kittens around the same time, they both took turns nursing each others kittens, so you shouldn't have to worry about the mothers killing the kittens, confine them to one room especially  while they are young, they can get into anything and everything, so it would be in their best interested to be confined, I wouldn't mix them together yourself, let the mothers decide on what they want to do, put a litter box in with them when they start in solids (usually 4-5 weeks of age) Hope my info is helpful to you.

  6. I would  NOT mix the litters together at this point, too soon mama kitty's might get into fight trying to protect their kittens.  You can put a litter box now because mama kitty will teach them  to use it.  Put at least one in each room.  Yes you can let them run around the house but MAKE SURE you kitty proof the house.  Holes in walls if any faulty electrical outlets, exposed electrical wires, kitties like to chew.

  7. A mother cat will mother kittens (even if not from her litter), if her and the other cats kittens are at tha oldest, 14days apart, so no baby kittens will get killed, however the two female cats may fight.. the kittens won't be walking around until they are about 3 1/2 weeks to 4 weeks old, so u can keep them in a basket with tha mom until then, when they begin to p**p and pee on their own, the mom MAY teach them to go in the litter box, we never had to potty train our kittens they always figure it out on their own, so it depends on how your luck is with that. If the litter box is easy to find, and they KNOW where it is, then that shouldn't be a problem.. jsut keep a close eye on them and make sure they aren't anywhere thats not safe.

  8. I love kittens too as much as I would LOVE TO HAVE babies I would not let any of my cats have kittens, I have had all my pets fixed since I was old enough to drive! There are so many homeless  unwanted animals in this world already...  Do you have any idea how many more homeless pets you just gave birth too? Each Kitty will have kitties and kitty will have kitties if no one fixes them like you DIDN'T.. I am sorry to nag but its true. Please get all of the kitties FIXED before you give them a way.. for the sake of all future homeless pets, if you read these posts you will see even people who have a pet are ready to give them away or cant take care of them properly. This make me so sad, anyone else???

  9. Did you or any member of your family handle the kittens after they were born? If you did, this could a reason the mama cat ate her kittens - the strange smell to the mama. She could also kill them if she believes they are sick or if she knows they cannot survive, because her milk would not be enough for them all.

They will do it for territorial reasons and if they feel something is going to kill them they will do it first. It was a very terrible thing to have to go through!

Also, kittens begin using the litter box at about 3 to 4 weeks. it's always good to keep one around so when they finally decide to use it, they'll know where to go. And a tip, when I got my new kitten I just placed her in the litterbox and pushed the litter around with my hand (don't worry, it wasn't used yet!) to show her that it was there. She used it right then and has been ever since! (I believe she was about 4 weeks old at the time). And don't worry about having a big house. Keep one mom and her kittens in a room while you let the others roam around for a while, then switch it up. They shouldnt be defensive of one another after a few weeks. It may be a good idea to give away at least one set of the kitten but not until they're at least 6 weeks old.

  10. Keep them all in one kitten-proofed room ( no electrical cords, string, water deep enough to drown in,etc.) THEN,get the mother cats fixed!! Make the appointments now,and do not let them outside until after they have been fixed,as they can get pregnant again shortly after the kittens are born!! There are SO many cats and kittens dying in shelters! What will you do with the kittens? Don't give them away to a "good home" as they may end up as snake food or dog bait.If you can,get them all fixed before you adopt them out to people who have vet references.Charge an adoption fee of around 75.00,which would include spay/neuter surgery ,shots and worming. Or,if there is a no-kill shelter, see if you can get them in when they are 8 weeks old,but call now,as they will have a waiting list.

  11. Just one question.  Why on earth didn't you get these cats fixed?  You're going to end up spending more money now than if you did if they had been spayed.

I suggest you take them to a no kill shelter (ALL OF THEM) in which they will hopefullly find homes.  They will also take on the responsibility (that you didn't) to fix them, feed them and then maybe if you're lucky find a home.  Oh, and by the way, they will also eat the cost of humanely euthenizing the ones they can't find homes for.

I hate to be so cruel in my comments, but I can't believe you would be such an irresponsible pet owner.

Rehome them all so hopefully some of them have a chance.
