  1. Green eyes are autosomal recessive meaning that the person has homozygous (same) alleles 1 from each parent,  this means that both you and your husband have a green gene passed onto your daughter.  Your daughter's genotype is gg, both you and your husband is Bg.  The phenotype is what you see for your daughter it is green eyes, which is pretty cool since only 1-2% of the population have green eyes.

This means that your kids have only 25% chance of having green eyes and 75% chance of brown, 66% chance of a brown eyed child of your's would carry the green gene

Somewhere you and your husband each received 1 green gene from 1 parent.

  2. because you both had the recessive gene for green colored eyes.

you and your husband are both Bb

so you guys had a 25% chance of green eyes bb

a 25% chance for brown eyes with BB genotype

and a 50% chane with brown eyes  but Bb genotype

that is just simple mendelian laws but sometimes genetics can be much more conplex than that.

this is how the punnette square would look

thisis how your punette square would look The Bb ocross on top is you, the Bb vertically on the left side is your husband and the ones inside are all the possible combinations.

    **B***b

    B BB Bb

    b Bb  bb

another ex:my dad has blue eyes, my mom had brown and i came out with brown eyes but with  the recessive gene of blue eyes. I am a Bb.

  3. either you or your husband or both of you are carriers of the green eye trait. So you or ur husbands mom or dad must of had green eyes or carried it, passing it on to you or your husband if not, it goes on to grandparents. Its boaring i kno i had to sit through it in my 8th grade science last year class for about a month. Glad its summer now.

  4. You and your husband have the gene for brown and green eyes. If, when the cells were merging after conception, your brown gene went with your husbands green gene your daughter would have had brown eyes (and vice versa) because brown is the dominant gene. But you and your hubby both passed on the green gene.

I believe it is the gene for blues eyes that is rarer because other genes are dominant?

    I think.....lol

  5. It's in the genes my girlfriend has light brown eyes I have brown eyes and my son has blue eyes like his grandfather.

  6. It doesnt have to come just from you or your husband. The genes can come from your mother, father, grandmother, grandfather... and so for his side also..

  7. my sister co worker is black and he daughter came out blond with blue eyes and looks just like her mom's male co worker.

her husband is white but doesn't have blue eyes.

  8. My cousin and my second cousin both have my grandfathers eyes. Blue.

I'm not really sure how it works lol

    Skips generations?

But none of them had blue eyes, they all had brown.

  9. ressive genes. where a trait in a family kinda skips a generation. does anyone else in your family, or your husbands family have green eyes?? her eyes may change with age as well.

  10. each parent has 2 genes for eye color among other things. your parents each gave you one gene and the brown shows bc it is dominant but your mother or father could have green eyes(or even one of their parents) and passed the gene to you. your husband would have the same thing happen and you both passed down your resesive gene to your baby giving her green eyes.
