  1. ok go to http://www.the-hermie-hut.piczo.com  to learn about how warm or cold it needs to be in the tank and all about that if their limbs fall off they will grow back but they fall off when there is something wrong

  2. legs and stuff fall off all the time they will grow back after they molt(leave them alone when and a few days after they molt)

and food they eat realy small portions and they dont eat that often...

mine were always asleep it seemed like...but i would catch them up every once in a while...

if you want you can pick them up hold them upside down and put some water on them let it sit there in the shell and leave it for about 10 seconds then dump it out... usually they will come out with with the water... if not they r probably sleeping so just leave them

  3. Without knowing a whole lot more information, it is difficult for me to help.   It can be many different things, and I need a little more information in order to try to assist you.  Can you please answer these questions?  (I'll be online for a bit.....and will continue to look for your re-post with the answers.)

1.How long have you had them?

    2. If you have had them longer than a month, were the active prior to today?

    3.  Look at the limbs that they have lost.  Do they appear "solid" or "hollow"....(If they are hollow, they will break in half very easy).

    4. What kind of tank do you have them in

    5. Wwhat kind of food are you providing them

    6. What kind of substrate are you using (sand, coconut fiber, gravel)?

    7.  How deep is the substrate?

    8.  How big are your crabs?

    9.  Do you have a temperature and humidity gauge in the tank?  If so, What is the temperature and humidity?

Try to answer these questions as an add on to your post....or...start another post.......getting these answers will give me a better idea of what is going on with your hermies.

  4. dont worry! itll fix that when it molts. my hermit crabs big claw fell off and i screamed and then i disappeared for a month and came back up with it back on! so when it molts it will all be there! but just let them rest and stuff.

  5. I had hermit crabs lots of times... never feed them oatmeal. oh right the leg thing... it is very common. It is most likely molting.

Check the site below out. Its all there:

Answer: If your hermit crab loses a leg, there are several things to consider as possible causes. At the first sign of dropping legs, make sure none of these problems exist as soon as possible to prevent further problems.

    Tank Conditions

        * Humidity: make sure the humidity is high enough, but not too high either (should be 70-80 percent relative humidity -- invest in a hygrometer to be sure).

        * Temperature: too high or too low, too much fluctuation, or hot spots (should be 72-78 F or 22-26 C).

        * Chlorine in the water (use a dechlorinator on all water in the tank).

        * Residual chemicals from cleaning in or around the tank (use only hot water for cleaning the tank).

        * Condition of substrate: not too damp, no mold.

        * Cleanliness of the tank: clean the tank regularly to remove and wastes or uneaten food.

        * Bathing too often: once a week is plenty under most conditions.

It goes on to say: Mites, Shell Fights / Aggression, Illness and Severe Stress
