Question:

Bothersome bruise???

it's been a week and the bruise on my knee hasn't healed. Is that normal? It's only a small bruise, (hardly visible) but it really hurts. the bruise is on the side of my knee(the bony part). So I think that's why it hurts more than a regular bruise on the skin.

Do I need new knee pads??? My old ones got decompressed and don't cushion that much anymore. I'm afraid to fall on the knee.

Thanks

  1. It is normal for some bruises to not go away for awhile. However, you may want to buy some new knee pads so that you are not scared to do jumps and stuff.

  2. i would say that it is normal just heat it for 20 min then ice it for 20 min right before you go to bed!

    hoped this helped

  3. ouch ive had this before :( its no fun..

i think you may have bruised the bone in your leg. it can take a couple of weeks to come right, and is usually accompanied by a stubborn bruise.. the best thing you can do for it is ice it and put some bruise/healing cream on it, arnica or comfry works wonders :)

kneepads are a good idea; if your old ones are decomposed then it might be wise to buy some new ones...  they come in handy a lot! :D

if you're really not feeling confident dont push yourself, avoid jumps for a little. but dont let this hold you back, just take it slow for a while...

i hope you get better soon :)

  4. Take care that the knee doesn't stay suspiciously inflamed - if it seems swollen and tender on any part that doesn't show bruising then i strongly suggest you see a doctor. I am currently under going treatment for a knee injury that I am still not sure is after 2 months or continuous pain. You should take knee pain seriously as you do not want to further injure yourself or skate on a possible fracture or anything sinister of that sort.

As for the knee pads, I'd change them if I were you. My hip pads went like that after a while and just weren't giving the protection needed.

Take a few days off and take care of that leg.

  5. It sounds like you bruised the bone. Those hurt more, longer and take longer to go away.

It will go away in time, don't worry about it. If you think your knee pads are too compressed now mabe it is time to get new ones.
