What is the purpose of adding ozone to bottled water?

  1. The media is all hyped up about the ozone hole, which is high in the air. But ozone is really just a kind of oxygen. (O3) It is found near electrical discharges and lightening strikes. It is very reactive and a pollutant in some environments.

    It is used to kill germs in water since it reacts quickly with them, I guess like burning them up. Just a little in drinking water would make it safe to drink.


  2. The free oxygen radicals in ozone will attack and annihilate any living organisms in the water, thereby eliminating any risk of bacterial infection from waterborne bacteria or viruses. Spring water could also be contaminated from bacteria, so it would be safest to ozonate it.
