Bottom Paint ? what is the best way to paint a steel hull for use in the CA delta?

I have a 1968 river queen house boat and am looking for advise on the best way to paint the hull.

  1. Have hull completely sand blasted and then check for any welds that may need repairing . Prime and use Epoxy type paint . Should last for years but it will be expensive


  2. haul it out at lads in Stockton they let you do your own work . plan ahead you need mild weather. cold and wet wont work. remove old paint by stripping and sanding. apply appropriate primer fallowed by anti fouling paint . This is the basic process highly condensed. I would recommend having the bottom looked at by a pro at the yard to be sure you don't miss any issues that my ruin your fun. I would also recommend contacting interlux or pettit for free detailed info on how to properly do the job. you will be dealing with very toxic materials so you need all the details. If the prep isn't done correctly you will be redoing it next year. The demons are in the details . just out of curiosity where do you keep your boat?   3. I would use a paint brush and a roller.  

    Don't forget your going to need scuba gear also.
