Bottom of inner ear is swollen?

ok a while ago i though i had a zit in my ear on the bottom inside it, but i hasnt gone away and now i kinda scratched it open so i asked a friend to look at it and she said its like really swollen im going to doctor on monday but i want some opinions

  1. It is possible to get a zit in your ear that takes time to heal.  It may also be something called Otitis Externa which is an inflammation of the external ear.  There are various fungal and bacterial infections as well.  Your physician should diagnose it.  It is also good to be aware of medications and their ototoxicity (harmful to the ear, that can cause hearing loss).  It may have been a zit that became infected when you scratched it.


  2. 1) DON'T believe everything on the internet.

    2) You have not described an INNER ear problem.

    3) Don't use any OTC (drugstore) stuff.

    4) You can safely dab the sore area with a cotton dipped in hydrogen peroxide. Let it 'bubble' a few times. Wash with plain soap and water. Pat dry.

    5) Keep your fingers OUT of your ears after this. See that doc & do exactly what you are told.
