Boucher bit for horse?

I just bought an appy sport horse and the original owner said she used a boucher bit on her. I rode the mare in the boucher bit and it worked wonderfully. However, the owner hasn't given us the bridle yet, but i do have a boucher bit for the horse. I need a bridle asap and haven't really dealt with bouchers before-mostly just snaffles. I am really confused with this bit as far as what bridle to buy for it. I need a bridle with a flash and was wondering what kind of bridle to buy? I'm doing jumping and a little dressage with this mare. Thanks!

I use a boucher snaffle (dont worry, you spelled it right the first time) on my event mare. It's a wonderful bit, i love it..mostly because it's legal for dressage. You dont need any "special" bridle to use with a boucher. The cheek pieces will just attach to the upper ring, so the cheek pieces will have to be shortened so that the bit wont hang too low in your horse's mouth. You'll probably have to punch a few extra holes in the cheek pieces to get it short enough, or if your mare has a little head, you'll want to get a cob size bridle as oppose to the full size. Bridles with flashes are not hard to find, plus you could always just buy a flash attachment and stick it on the noseband.

I would just try her in a snaffel and add the flash after a few rides. Even if she hates the snaffel it will give you some time to get the bit from the old owner. I doubt she will though. Most horses will do fine in a simple snaffel. Not sure about any particular bridle though. I picked mine by what matched my saddle and was nicely made so mo help there. Congrats on the new horse!

A standard bridle will work fine, it doesn't need to be anything special.
