  1. When will people finally learn what a bunch of hucksters work for CC!  Blockbuster needs to clean house when they take over.

You got taken! A $35 HDMI cable will do exactly what a $90 HDMI cable can do. You are transmitting digital information. Either it gets transmitted or it does not. There is NO in between. These are not analog signals that benefit from some improved S/N ratio. Unless you are trying to run extremely long cables, the expensive HDMI cables will NOT produce a better picture.

Let me guess; you let the CC sales associate talk you into buying the Sony BDP-S300 for $399.99. This is one of the least capable Blue Ray players on the market. It does not nor can it be upgraded to final version of the Blue Ray standard and Sony defined the Blue Ray Standard. Shame on Sony. The PS3 is a more capable Blue Ray player. You own a Panasonic TV; why didn't you purchase the Panasonic DMP-BD30? This is a much higher rated Blue Ray player, it supports final version of the Blue Ray spec and you could use ONE remote to run your TV & Blue Ray!

If it's not too late, return that c**p to CC and check out BB or Sears for the right equipment.

  2. r u sure u set ur tv and blu ray player to display in 1080p. if not, this may be the problem. go to display settings on ur blu ray and tv.

  3. There's ONLY one way to connect up the HDMI cable, so .....

Have you checked your Sony Blu Ray's Video OUTPUT setting?

Those can be set for 480 right out of the box, so you may need to set it to 1080 resolution for HD rather than SD....
