As the owner of a similar HP all-in-one, my recommendation would be to not download the software, only the drivers, unless you absolutely need them.  HP has a tendency to blame you for everything that goes wrong (I had a bad experience with their tech support, or lack thereof) and the software has created problems with my computer to the point that I was forced to roll back to a previous saved version of my hard drive to correct it.  (My other option was a complete reformat, as HP's software caused all of my Microsoft programs to cease functioning and continuously tell me that they weren't installed.)

The printer works great, and it's a shame that this happens with their software.  So if you can, get the drivers only and leave the software alone.

Not got a c5180, but a psc2410, had a problem with the disc, so I went to their site and downloaded direct, no trouble since, and I get updates from them.
