Bought a car nine months ago it was guaranteed for six months by the garage .I took it for a nct test this?

morning it failed on a number of things eg hand brake dip light also a bent bar underneeth the car i think all these things should have been checked out by the garage when i bought the car they told me it was so where do i stand now ?

by the sounds of it, you stand at the bus stop.

after 9 months the hand break and dip lights might need adjusting that's normal, as for a bent bar under the car, with out knowing what it is its hard to say if have been wrongly treated but i would say so far you have just been unlucky.

you could of done the damage to the bar your self how do you know it was like that when you bought the car ??

All these things are progressive faults and likely to happen.  Its always worth paying out for the AA or RAC (not sure of Irish equivalent) to do a check on a used car.

the hand brake and dip lights are general wear and tear,

the bent bar could have been there a months or more you may have caught it on some thing ? depending on what bar? get a couple of quotes to get sorted and then decide if it worth repairing,

Well they probably did. Handbrake cables do need adjustment from time to time and headlight beams do need to be aligned occasionally. You have had 9 months driving, you have been lucky.

Wait until you need new tyres/exhaust/brake discs/ these things wear out.

all you have described could be deemed as general wear and tear, and therfore not covered by the warranty.

You stand with a car you have to fix yourself. Any guarentee ended 3 months ago.

well it was only a six months guarantee so its not up to the garage anymore - that was kinda sneaky of them if they knew the nct was nine months after u bought it...

theres nothing you can do about it though ... you'll have to get it all fixed yourself
