Bought a new mercedes built townhome in 2008?

the house is under a 1 year warranty but tropical storm fay left water in my living room floor due to faulty window joists quoted by the builder, there are 12 units and all had the same problem.should i also report this to insurance?

Yes, report it to your insurance company.

Then immediately get in touch with the other owners and approach the builder with this problem.

They used faulty materials and should be covered by your homeowners guarantee policy; but, in case they deny this claim; be sure to cover yourself by reporting it timely to your insurance company.

Be sure you do the responsible thing and clean up the water as well as you can; also treat the areas affected with mildew retardant.

Sure, but I am uncertain where the Mercedes comes into the picture. As a home owner you should know what to do, if your property has been damaged some of your property. Contact them, pay your deductible and get everything fixed.

Your insurance company will probably go after the builder's insurance company for repayment if it is his fault.  They would pay your claim first though.  Does your HOA have a master insurance policy?  They should be informed also.
