Question:

Bought a new vehicle two months ago and the ride isn't as smooth anymore after hitting a pothole...

The car is perfect when but when it goes through bumps, I can feel it sway and shake for a bit from one side to the other... Not sure what could be damaged since I know nothing about cars...

So my question is, if I take it back to the dealer, would they fix the problem for me since it is still under warranty?

Also, what could be the possible damages?

Thanks.

  1. You could have bent a rim. Rotate your tires back to front, and see if the problem persists. If the problem's gone, it's a rim. Otherwise there's damage to something in your front suspension. I doubt the dealer will fix it under warranty since this is usually not covered.

  2. Why wouldn't the dealer fix the problem? I am not trying to be sarcastic, just serious. There is nothing you could do about the pothole, unless you were purposely trying to hit every one. It's probably just an adjustment and they more than likely won't make a big deal of it. I would suggest just telling them about the problem, not the cause. I don't mean lie, I mean if they ask, then tell them. Otherwise, don't say anything.

  3. well it could be a wheel bearing problem, excessive camber problem, or just an alignment problem. is that car RWD or FWD? if its RWD drive then it could be a wheel bearing or hub problem, if its FWD then it could also be a transaxle problem.

  4. they should have to fix it since its still under warranty

  5. Did you bend your rim?  You can get it straightened out in most cases.  Also, you may want to have your alignment checked.  In either case, I think it will come out of your pocket.

  6. Your tire are probably just misalligned, it should be covered by your warranty

  7. Don't say a thing about the pot hole, they will fix it.

  8. Wheel alignment is out and need to be set after hitting a pot hole. Not part of your garantee.
