  1. NO! (in most if not all cases) it is sold as scrap metal and parts essentially. the title will say so if you even go a title. some countries will let you rebuild it. its a total loss because it is not considered safe enough to operate if repaired in most cases. if however it is just an older high mileage car, that is not damaged badly, it may be possible. check with the company you purchased it from about the title and what the car is listed as. if it  is a salvage title, then you should be able to put it back on the road.

  2. You have to have a light/brake inspection done.  Safety issues..

  3. You need to find out what category of total loss it was. You should have been given this information when you bought it. The categories, which are set by the insurer are as follows...

Category A  A vehicle which should be totally crushed, including all its spare parts.

Category B A vehicle from which spare parts may be salvaged, but the bodyshell should be crushed and the car should never return to the road.

Category C An extensively damaged vehicle which the insurer has decided not to repair, but which could be repaired and returned to the road.

Category D A damaged vehicle which the insurer has decided not to repair, but which could be repaired and returned to the road.

Category F A vehicle damaged by fire, which the insurer has decided not to repair.

Category Theft These vehicles have not been recovered and ownership rests with the insurer who made the total loss payment. They are able to repossess the car as soon as it is identified, even if it has been bought innocently.

  4. It depends on what state you are in and the extent of damage.  Expect to have it inspected and a "rebuilt" title issues.

  5. No in most states they scrap them out> Some state will have an inspection if it passes they title it> But with all the underwater cars I hope they don't allow any on the street>
