Bought an LG dvd burner to make slideshows for tv playback?

can someone give me a step by step for power dvd software to burn dvd-r so it has the playback feature for tv-dvd player,thats the error i get,im doing something wrong for this seemingly simple operation..just burning photos stored on pc to be played on tv so i can give them to family with no pc.
