Bought an old copy of Bleak House today, any idea when it was published...?

the front cover just says "the London Edition". Inside it says "London The Caxton Publishing Company" and "Printed by Ballantyne, Hanson & Co. at the Ballantyne Press" Obviously there's no date in it or i wouldnt be asking! anyone have any idea when it could have been published?

Still not sure about publishing date but Abebooks.com gives an idea of value.

Try googling th publishing company.  Perhpaps if it still exists, it has a website.  If it doesn't exist any longer, you may find details that will give you a clue.

this sounds obvious but have you typed the ISBN into amazon or ebay? the isbn is unique to the particular book and you'll be able to find all the publishing info and date from this.
