Bounce Question?

So in a golf magazine they talk about standard bounce. However in that magazines website trying to order the wedge it does not say standard bounce it only has 11 and 14 degree. I am just wondering out of those two which one is closer to the standard bounce?

  1. id say that 11* of bounce is closer to standard

  2. I would call 11 the standard bounce, since is more in the middle of the road. 14 is about the highest bounce you'll find in a wedge. A low bounce is about 8, but it can go as low as 5.

  3. I just sold a wedge with 14 degrees of bounce because it was very hard to hit unless the ball was in the sand or sitting up in the grass.  With that much bounce you have to hit down on the ball pretty good.  You can't scoop it off the fairway.  If I remember, on Titleist web site, they call these wedges with 14 degrees of bounce "diggers".  I went to a wedge with 10 and that's much better for me.

  4. Those are both pretty high bounce.  Bounce is great for sand shots, but difficult to handle from a tight fairway lie.  I would go with less bounce like 4 to 8 degrees.

  5. Your 11 degree is closer to the standard bounce. Believe me when I say that unless you are a low single digit player or a professional who does this for a living, you won't know the difference nor will it make for an improvement in the game. The technique of swinging a wedge either with a heavy or lighter sole is the criteria for good wedge shots, not the width of the sole.
