  2. Look at the borders. If they are straight, some people got together and decided where the borders were. If they are wiggly, it's a river, a mountain ridge line, or something like that.

A border is often an old line that marks a separation between people that have some difference like language.

More recent borders have often been argued or even fought over because there's something people want like minerals.

  3. Well, as you can see, some of the world's largest countries have the strongest armies and the strongest governments. Most boundaries have really been controlled by War. China used to be one of the strongest nations in the World thousands of years ago, and that is why China has so much land today. It's the same with Russia, which actually used to be larger than it is today, and still, is the largest country in the World. The United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Australia all have one thing in common. They have very strong Militaries. This is why they are among the world's largest countries. They have the most land, and in most cases, they also have some of the world's largest populations.

  4. Along time ago, there was many changes in weather. so after the volcano distroyed most of the dinosaurs on earth. it started to crack because of the bad weather and started to seperate the land. But later on engineers put cement and covered the cracks. And then many scientists for Asia and North America came together and decided to make boundaires. So it is easier for people in immagration..HOPE THIS HELPED>>>>

  5. There are a few different factors which depend on the the borders of a country. The main factor of the African countries borders is what is now known as "ruling the lines". When the British attempted to colonsie Africa, they had divided the continent into different land divisions. The surveyors just drew straight lines and bent around rivers and so forth. This created much confict, as the tribal diversities were not taken into condsideration.

In Asia, this was done very differently. China was the first to map its country. It sent surveyors to every village in outer China. These were marked as the outposts of China. The surveyors then joined each outpost, like dot to dot, and formed China. However, unlike the African scenario, the different ethnic diversities were appreciated, as the Chinese were in China, and the rest were everywhere else.

In South America, this was mostly based on tribe. The Mayans rules one area of land, the Incans ruled another area and they "owned" that area of land which they called their own.

The early American settlers attempted to unite all of America as one. However, the French and the British both wanted "America". So, the French had occupied the north (Canada) and the British the south (United States). A large confict was made amongst these nationalities, and in the interest of political friendship, they settled on "sharing". The division was made because this is where most of the French had settled and the British had settled.
