  1. Here is some things you can get him that he can use. If you live in the north, a good suit of insulated camo coveralls. A compass. A GPS unit- they start at $100, but this is the most handiest things I own for hunting. A folding trim saw to remove brush from his hunting spot. A Good pair of hunting boots, insulated if up north, non insulated if from a southern state. A deer feeder, check if legal in your area first.A good bright handheld light to get him to and from his stand in the dark. And to track his deer down after dark.A water proof camo hat is nice to have. And a Thermacell unit that repels mosquitoes if they are a problem in your area. Hope this helps some.Good luck.

  3. please, please, please dont pick out and buy anything for your hunter. go to his favorite Archery store and purchase a gift certicicate for him. I like certains things and dont like other things. would you be pleased if your guy bought you some underwear or shoes? do you think he would pick out the perfect pair? gift card and go with him to spend it.

  4. What supplies?

    Bow hunters use camo clothing

    tree stands

    new arrows (know what size)

Hunting points for the arrows(What kind he uses)

    Camo makeup

    Bow silencers

Arrow quivers holds X amount of arrows

    Bow pin sights

    Scent blocker

Looks like maybe even a new Hunting Bow.

All this is necessary ,but ask what he needs .He may not need too much if he is a hunter.Good Luck! BTW LULU has a good site there!

  5. Buy him a Mathews bow he will do so much for ya then

  6. I'm with "ole max" on this -- a gift certificate. That way he will be able to get what HE knows he needs. You could do it this way: buy the bow, after finding out what kind/type to get, and then give him a gift certificate for arrows. Most likely, it'll be a compound bow, and once it is adjusted to what he needs he will need to get arrows made for the bow/his draw length.

That way, you won't have to worry about getting the right arrows to go with the bow -- and if you give him a gift certificate for a bow as well, you won't have to worry about getting the right bow, either.

Things you can get for him (assuming you do know his shoe size, etc) without having to know anything (or not much) about hunting:

--Boots (appropriate for the area/hunting conditions - and they don't necessarily have to be made specifically for hunting)

--Thermal underwear (yes, it does get cold when you sit still for hours in November/December)

--QUIET, non-bulky hunting clothes (certain fabrics actually do make a lot of noise...especially when it rubs against a tree!). It should be non-bulky because looking like the Michelin Man just isn't going to be good (he might be warm, but he won't be able to move if it's too bulky). Also, it helps if the clothing is warm. I recommend wool, if he can wear it; it is warm and quiet, and is often non-bulky (been used for thousands of years with excellent results....)

--A compass, for when he's out in the woods and "forgets" which way is home. It's easy to get turned around when it's dark, especially in the woods, even with a good light. I've done it too many times to believe otherwise.....

--A good sheath (belt) knife, for skinning/dressing any deer he happens to get. It doesn't have to be fancy, just functional -- although fancy is nice.

--All the love, understanding and support you can possibly muster. It might be the most important thing you can give him. :-)

There are probably more things you could get for him, but these should do as a start. :-)
