Bowden should have intervened in Tendulkar’s controversial run out, says Dhoni – Cricket News Update
Indian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar’s controversial run out.
In the 10th match of the ongoing triangular Commonwealth Bank series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brett-Lee-c48419 to point and went for a single. Tendulkar, who was
on the non-striker end, found Lee in his way and the moment’s delay gave Warner enough time to through the ball directly onto the stumps, sending the master blaster back to the pavilion.
Tendulkar resisted http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Simon-James-Arnold-Taufel-c90354’s decision, but the on-field umpires did not turn it down and the batsman had to go.
The visiting skipper feels that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brent-Fraser-Bowden-c48388, who was the umpire at the non-striker’s end, should have had a say in the decision, as he was in a better position to see the positions of Tendulkar vis-a-vis Australian pacer Brett Lee, who stood in the way
of the batsman while he was attempting a single.
"It was unjustified for Tendulkar because he had to take an extra yard to run,” said Dhoni while speaking to media reporters at the post-match press conference on Sunday night.
“I think Billy (Bowden) should have said something because he was in a better position to see where exactly the bowler was and where he stopped. It was really difficult for Simon Taufel to take a call,” he added further.
The Indian skipper also lashed out at the Australian pacer for standing in Tendulkar’s way saying that Lee cannot justify his position by saying he was going towards the point fielder.
“I don't think he had real business to go over there and (then) to decide to stand just in front of Tendulkar,” said Dhoni. "Tendulkar was disappointed that he was given out despite the bowler (Lee) standing on his way," he added further.
Another controversy in yesterday’s tri-series match was David Hussey’s obstruction in the field, as he outstretched his arm to stop the ball while running down to the non-striker end during http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s innings. Hussey was adjudged not out as it was deemed
he had touched the ball with hand to avoid an injury and not to obstruct the field. However, Dhoni feels the batsman should have been given out.
India lost the match by 87 runs as Australia secured a spot in series’ finals, starting in Brisbane on March 4.
