Bower Hawk to swoop late in Yorkshire St Leger final
Leaving it late, can make a victory great.
Just ask Sir Alex Ferguson, the king of the late show. Well, in tonight’s Yorkshire St Leger at Doncaster, Bower Hawk can make for an incredibly exciting final as he is likely to come from first to last in the closing stages.
Supporters of Bower Hawk may start to enter squeaky bum territory after the first lap, as Pat Rosney’s runner is a certainty to be well off the early pace. But fear not, this is a hound who does all his best work at the finish, and has a knack of making top class staying dogs look rather ordinary at the final two bends as he passes them with consummate ease.
It’s hard to find flaws in favourite Droopys Belletti's chances this evening following his eight length success in the semi-finals, but consistency is not the Charlie Lister runner's strong point and he simply can’t be trusted at short prices. Ballymac Rumble should run to a better standard than his last run suggests (stumbled out of the boxes) and could provide the biggest danger to the Rosney runner.
Mill Jaguar looks the pick of the runners in a tough undercard, which is being shown on Sky Sports 3 this evening. A recent winner of an Eclipse trail race at Colwick Park, Jaguar looks to be finally living up to billing after struggling to find his best form over the summer and can deny Head Iton Ellis in the £25 Free Bet When You Join Betfair British Bred Stakes.
Stick the Lister runner in a double along with Step in on Brett who should benefit from the absence of the two top sprinters, Jimmie Lollie and Rotar Wing, in tonight’s Betfair The World's Biggest Betting Community Sprint Stakes.
