Bower West to strike a hat trick through Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Standard Trophy – Final at Nottingham
Nottingham is to stage the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Standard Trophy – Final over 500 metres flat on Monday, 26th March. Competing for the £350 prize money are Jasons Hawk, Envy Apple King, Ceroc Shaneboy, Firecracker Jack, Bower West and Hold
On Mate.
The hound with just the right credentials for winning today is Bower West, Westmead Hawk’s two-year-old blue son out of b***h Bower Kate. He started off with his racing career at the end of the 2011 season.
Instead of sending him racing right away, the trainer, P. Rosney saw to it that the two-year-old was adequately trained to step up for the forth coming challenges.
Bower West was first drilled over 264 metres at Monmore on 21st February which he ran through in 15.78 seconds. Tuning him further, Bower West practiced at Belle Vue over 260 metres on 28th February, this time completing the trip in
15.46 seconds.
The rigorous training did prove out to be effective as Bower West did not spare the lineup of the two starts that he undertook after penetrating into the new season.
He won his seasonal debut on 8th March at Monmore over 480 metres by clocking the track distance in 28.85 seconds and taking charge of the concluding one and a half lengths. Joining the winner on the other end of the wire was Vatican Stein.
Holding steadfast to the initial training, Bower West nailed the next start too. Bower West won the second heat of the Stadium Bookmakers Maiden Standard Trophy at Nottingham over 500 metres on 19th March.
Compromising on the victory by a mere shoulder’s margin was Envy Apple King who timed the track distance in 30.83 seconds. The runner up was soon joined by Hold On Mate.
The 9/4 favourite of the race, Mays Bonus, could only manage the fourth position behind the winner.
The two-year-old will race for a third time during the season and is being expected to strike a hat trick and keep the impact of training still alive.
An entry to stay at guard from is Jasons Hawk who has recently bagged a race and that also at Nottingham but he does not have the advantage of being trained the way Bower West has been.
