Australian bowlers showed complete dominance in the Perth Test when they took Australia to a convincing 267-run win over England on the fourth day of the Test match.
It was a thoroughly professional display of bowling by the Aussie bowlers as they did not allow the English batsmen to play much in the match. Ryan Harris was the hero for Australia with the ball as he finished the English batsmen in a hurry on the fourth
day. He finished with a career-best 6-47. England, on the other hand, would be quite disappointed with the result as they totally had Australia under control on the first day but the way http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 bounced back in the match is commendable.
England resumed from their overnight score of 81-5 and with just 5 wickets left they were always in danger of being bowled out for a low score. It was daunting task at the hands of James Anderson and Ian Bell and a lot of responsibility was required from
both these batsmen.
James Anderson did not last long and was quickly sent to the pavilion by Ryan Harris. Harris has been one of the best performers for Australia with the bowl and has been able to swing the ball effectively in the series. The Perth Test was a just a reflection
of his skills as he complemented Mitchell Johnson quite well in the Test match.
Harris took his first wicket of the morning when he bowled Anderson out with a ball that completely beat Anderson’s defences. Bell looked promising for some time and played a few quality shots but he was not able to hold his wicket for long as he became
Harris’ second victim of the day.
Bell was trapped leg before by Harris, when he tried to work a straight delivery on the leg side but missed it completely. It was a major blow for England as Bell was the last hope for England of making a miraculous save in the Test match. In the same over,
Harris again struck for the Aussies, when Matt Prior gave a catch at gully position which was beautifully taken by Michael Hussey.
Matt Prior made 10 runs off 9 balls but like Bell, was not successful in playing a long innings for his side. At that moment, England were reeling at 114-8.
Graeme Swann (1) tried to play big shots but in the process got bowled off an inside edge off Johnson’s bowling. Australia took no time to get rid of the last batsman as Ryan Harris ended the England innings on 123. Steven Finn was the last English batsman
to be dismissed when he edged one to third slip off the bowling of Harris.
It was a remarkable turnaround by the Aussies as they fought back from their first innings and won the match convincingly in the end. Australia would be most proud of their main strike bowler, Mitchell Johnson, who took 9 wickets in the match and delighted
every one with his swing bowling. It was magic return for the left-hander as at one stage, he was axed from the team and his chances of returning to the team were looking dismal. But he proved every one wrong when he took 6 wickets for Australia in England’s
first innings. Harris was another bowler who impressed every one with his swing bowling and also took 9 wickets in the match.
Overall, Australia bowled with a lot of fire in Perth Test and tried their best to test the in form English batsmen. Mitchell Johnson, for his wonderful bowling, was named Man of the match. The series is now level 1-1 and one feels this win will give Aussies
a lot of confidence and momentum for the rest of the series.
