Bowlers’ inexperience played a part in our defeat: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals captain Rahul Dravid is of the view that the inexperience of his side’s bowling attack, in comparison to the Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers, led to their 5-wicket defeat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 13.
“Our Indian bowlers probably don't have the experience like KKR bowlers. They are good bowlers, working really hard but probably they don't have the experience. Sometimes in low-scoring games, a bit of experience helps you in being consistent,” the skipper
pointed out.
The Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowling unit features names such as South African veteran http://www.senore.com/Cricket/YK-Pathan-c2815
and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lakshmipathy-Balaji-c72130 to fall back on.
In comparison, the Royals’ bowlers are fairly inexperienced. In addition to overseas players http://www.senore.com/Cricket/George-Bradley-Hogg-c59047, their attack features bowlers who have spent little or no time on the international stage.
30-year-old pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amit-Singh-c44048, who made his T20 debut during the 2009 edition of the Indian Premier League, has only played a total of 25 T20s, with a total of 30 wickets at an average of 20.30 to his name. 26-year-od Ankeet Chavan’s career spans only 15
T20s, with the spinner having amassed a mere 13 wickets. All-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ashok-c46345 Menaria is yet another young player – the 21-year-old has played only 21 T20s, during which he has managed to claim a mere 3 wickets.
Despite their lack of expertise, the players have been giving it their all in the current season. Chavan has managed to claim 5 wickets during 4 innings so far, while Menaria recently claimed 1 for 3, and Amit Singh has a total of 6 scalps in 4 innings to
his name. Their recent match against the KKR saw the bowlers struggling to contain the opposing batsmen, but their skipper lauded their fighting spirit, and expressed optimism, saying they were sure to learn and grow.
“We are trying to make them learn as quickly as possible. We have not been outclassed at all. Credit to youngsters who are fighting hard. We just hope to come over the line soon,” Dravid said.
