http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 reduced to 48 for 5 at stumps on day two made up for the disappointment.
"I don't think I can repeat here what I was thinking then. The ideal thing is to shut your eyes, take a deep breath and try and move on,”  said the left-handed batsman when asked about his feeling after he missed the much deserved double ton. “There is nothing
really one can do in the circumstances. It's all part of the game," he added further.
Kumar Sangakkara, the 34-year-old top-order batsman from Matale missed out on his ninth Test double century due to a slight error in the Galle Cricket Stadium scoreboard, which showed him just six runs short of double century, when actually he needed seven.
The left-hander slog swept http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 for a big six over deep midwicket and raised his arms to celebrate his coveted double century. But teammates from the dressing room signalled that he was still one run short of the feat. On the next ball, final of the
over, Sangakkara tried to push hard Ajmal to manage a single, but failed as it went straight to cover, forcing the left-hander to rotate the strike, and allow last man Nuwan Pradeep to face http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Hafeez-c76898. Pradeep somehow managed to defend the first ball
of next over down the pitch, before being bowled out on the second, leaving Sangakkara stranded at the other end.
Despite missing out on a much deserved double hundred, Sangakkara, the veteran of 108 Tests, played a key role in helping Sri Lanka recover from 335 for 5 in the morning session on day two and post 472 runs in their first innings.
Sangakkara’s efforts were well complimented by bowlers as Pakistan were reeling at 48 for 5 at stumps. The veteran batsman said that the startling performance from bowlers made up for the disappointment of failing to score a double century.
"The way our bowlers bowled made up for the disappointment of not getting a double. This is not an easy wicket to bat on and I am just happy in the position we are in,” said Sangakkara.
