Bowling ball inserts/grips?

Hey, i just got my first bowling ball about a week ago. i have been working on my hook and can only get it to hook about 1 out of 5 times i bowl. i was wondering if inserts/grips would help? also, how much do they cost? thanks =)

  1. Its more technique than anything.  Go to the proshop and get some inserts, while you're there ask the guy/gal behind the counter about how to do it (throwing a curve).  That is the only thing those losers are good for (besides acting like know it alls at the alley)

Only thing that would prohibit the bowling ball from hooking properly would be to have the finger holes too tight or too loose and possibly rushing to the line and losing grip when you need to steer the ball with your fingers. Also, soft rubber grips which usually cost $5-10 each are easy to install by your ball driller, but may need the fingers plugged first.

    If you have the basics down, then practice will definitely help you have a constant hook. If it's a matter of fit, then you and your pro shop will help determine if the ball needs adjustment. Good luck!

  5. i heard it works even better if you put chewed gum in the holes...you'll be spinning it like pete weber in no time.
