Bowling coach – A Dilemma for Pakistan Cricket
Fast bowling has been the forte of Pakistan cricket over the years and the Green Shirts have always been a major force in international cricket because of their bowling abilities, despite the fact that their batting has been found wanting on a number of
occasions.

However, the spot-fixing controversy in 2010 which implicated these two talents rid Pakistan of their prodigious pacers who would carry the mantle of previous decades.
In spite of their ban, the Green Shirts were still able to produce brilliant bowlers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aizaz-Cheema-c961, but unlike the greats of yesteryears, they have not been consistent, showing glimpses of their abilities in one off matches.
They have failed to provide the Pakistani ace pace bowler http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Gul-c94604 with little support.
Considering the inability of the Pakistani batsmen to perform consistently against top-class bowling line-ups, it is imperative for the bowlers to deliver the goods, if the Green Shirts are to remain a force to reckon with in international cricket. This
trend continued against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in the recently concluded Test series, as the spinners were the main threat from Pakistan and with their help, Pakistan whitewashed the number one ranked Test team of the world.
The former bowling coach of the Pakistan team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033, to further his own career. This situation has left Pakistan cricket
stranded, and they badly need http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mentor-c41238 for the young and promising fast bowlers, who can do well with guidance.
Now the question is who is going to replace Aaqib for the young fast bowlers?
Former Pakistan captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084 has backed former fast bowler Mohammad Akram to be the new bowling coach of the team, and he feels that Akram posses all the qualities which are required to enhance the skills of the young bowlers.
Rashid feels that Pakistan should not look at foreign options because the country can acquire the services of a number of former greats like the two W’s, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mushtaq-Ahmed-c78096. Former wicketkeeper feels that all of them have played cricket all
around the world and this experience should be utilised by Pakistan.
Former captain said, “Pakistani cricketers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Azhar-Mahmood-c1116, Saqlaiin Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed and Mohammad Akram have a very valuable advantage and that is the experience of playing for many seasons overseas. They have played
under various coaches overseas and have learnt very good man management skills.”
Rashid believes that Akram is a widely respected cricketer in the country and he can transfer his knowledge to the young rookies.
“I think the PCB should appoint http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Akram-c76621 as I think he is the right man for the job. Akram knows the game of cricket very well and he’s a very well respected amongst all age groups of cricketers in Pakistan,” former wicketkeeper added.
It remains to be seen who will be appointed as the successor of Aaqib, but one thing is for sure that the new coach will have a huge challenge ahead of him.
