Question:

Bowling drill lay out for a stroker style?

I have been told that my bowling style is that of a stroker and I have just purchased a new black widow pearl and want to know what I should tell the pro shop on an exotic drill lay out that fits my criteria. I do not get a lot of revs on the ball which I am working on but I can throw it pretty hard.

  1. Try the RICO drilling pattern, which puts your pin position within the center of your palm.  I'm a stroker with medium revolution rate and about 14-16 mph. on the lanes.  It's controllable and it will definitely max out your ball's performance.  More on the RICO drilling on brunsnick.com, but it works for all manufacturers equipment.  Since I changed from my "exotic pin above the ring finger for low flare rates, early roll and hook" drilling to the RICO, my average has gone up about 20 pins.  Good luck!
