It's nice small-town life: not too harried, people are friendly, nothing too exciting. I believe that there are 3 high schools in Bowmanville. It's a nice lifestyle for teens, if you're not into city life. This would be a big advantage if you're worried about city schools with too much violence, bullying, peer pressures, etc. If you want to hang out in a mall, you'd do so in Oshawa, the nearest big city (just 10 minutes away).

Population consists of a mix of commuters to Toronto, farming families, small families hoping to escape city life, retired seniors, etc. It's a mix of people, but not too multicultural, unfortunately.
