Bowtime Joey to lead the lineup for the Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory Final at Sheffield on 10th April
The Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory Final is to be held at Sheffield over 660 metres on Tuesday, 10th April. Taking part in the £7, 500 event are Rockburst Pearl, Bowtime Joey, Meadow Bank Owl, Farloe Kyle, Luminous Park and Clerihan Gold.
The candidate who possesses what it takes to get the tonight’s race going for him is Bowtime Joey, Westmead Hawk’s three-year-old black dog out of b***h Graigues Echo. He has won five times out of the twelve races that he took part in during the new season.
The first three races of the season were failures with a sixth position sandwiched in two second scorings. His seasonal debut was on 6th January at Hall Green over 645 metres, a distance that was dominated by Fleeting Image who timed the track in 39.72 seconds. Fleeting Image led the runner up, Bowtime Joey, by seven and a half length.
He tasted the seasonal victory on 14th February at Swindon over 480 metres. He clocked the track distance in 28.59 seconds and took charge of the final 1 ¾ lengths and had Granard Bound finishing the closest.
Bowtime Joey could not win the next start and bumped into a third position on 20th February at Swindon over 480 metres, a race that was taken away by King Jaffa.
On 24th February, Bowtime Joey won for the second time during the season by settling the 480 metres track distance in 28.70 seconds in the Heat 3 at Swindon. This time King Jaffa was the 2/1 joint favourite runner up who took 28.76 seconds.
The other joint favourite, Longwood Fantasy, soon followed in and took up the third slot behind the winner.
13th March had Bowtime Joey timing the 480 metres track at Monmore in 28.58 seconds and leading the runner up of the race, Luminous Park, by one and a half length.
For the first time during the 2012 season, Bowtime Joey struck a pair of victories as he won the Ladbrokes Spring Festival 630 – Heat 3 on 19th March at Monmore. He took 38.30 seconds to race across the wire and got deprived of a hat trick by winning the next race.
The last time that he won was on 27th March at Sheffield over 480 metres in Heat 5 by covering the distance in 29.41 seconds.
Getting hold of the thirteenth start in order to strike a sixth victory on the record, Bowtime Joey will have to bag the race tonight.
