Boxer's Fracture not healing?

Help - got boxer's fracture on March 1st. 7 weeks out did another x-ray and still not healed. Doctor just says it is healing and should have healed by now. Thinking of getting second opinion. Need advice or others who have been through the same.

I went thru the same thing. Never hit anyone on the top of the head. LOL Boxers fractures take forever to heal. I know it took mine almost 6 months before it felt 100% again. Just be patient and don`t abuse it.

Muscle atrophy in isolated areas of 5 to 15 percent should be expected with a rehabilitation period of approximately       4 months given adequate therapy.

In the mildest of cases, full rehabilitation status can be achieved within 3 to 4 months.

Just make sure you leave it alone and let your body heal it. You still have some time depending on how severe it is.

Distal Radial Fracture? If so I did this in 2003 ended up with a steel plate in the wrist with serval screws. I healed well but range of motion is bad and I have yet to punch something with that hand 100%. It hurt too much at 80% or so. I am in the process of trying to get the plate removed for range of motion (hopefully)...

It is never a bad idea to get a second opinion.

It is not unusual for a boxers fracture can take a long time to heal. Of course the severity of the fracture plays a role in how long it takes to heal. Other factors such as poor nutrition can slow the healing process.

The most important thing is that the most recent X-rays show that the bone is healing and that it is healing correctly. This seems to be the case since the doctor said that it was healing and would have mentioned if the X-ray showed that it was healing incorrectly.
