Boxing License for VA or WV?

Question

I'm in the Northern Virginia area and was hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am interested in starting to compete in the amateur ranks and need to get my license but not sure exactly where to go in my area. Also are there any more requirements I need to have. I do not have a trainer or coach but I do have a good friend who can act as "coach". Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

If you are looking to box amateur, you will have to go through USAB - United Stated Amateur Boxing.  Google them for complete information and locations in your area.  You will need to get a passbook which will keep records of your fights and any medical concerns.  Your friend will have to be licensed to work your corner in any bouts, including taking and passing a certification test.
