Boxing Question- What style should I use?

Ok well I'm kind of conflicted about what boxing style I should use when. I typically was an Outside Fighter type boxer when I was younger and weighed a lot less, but now I am having trouble fighting that style. I'm 6' tall and 210lbs or so, and my footwork is not that great, but I do have a fast Jab and a Cross and a so-so Left Hook, so I'm looking for answers to what style I should chose. Like out of Outside Fighting, Inside Fighting, Counterpunching, stuff of that nature. If you could give me a good answer, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  1. I have a friend who trains in the same gym i do , and hes soon going pro . Hes about your size and its the craziest style i've ever seen . Its like a slugger and boxer combined . The way it works is you stay on the outside , and you just overwelm them and basially man handle your way in . Once hes in the inside you can't do anything because he controls how the fight goes . Basically he just stays really close to you after he gets in the inside , and then hes so close you can't punch at all with power . He works you into the corner , and then he just pounds the h**l out of you .

  2. go to a boxing gym and develop what you see as your best way of fighting that you will be able to see when you spar.

  3. crane and tiger fist

  4. Dude I was wondering the same thing just a few months ago for myself, when I started training I always fought  the conventional orthodox with the peek a boo defense and it sucked because I hate having to absorb impact everytime I get hit while blocking and I had an 80 plus reach!!! so I started practicing other styles and watching fighters that were similar to me in size and I got inspired while watching some gene tunney(he was not big but he relied heavily on foot work like me) and Ali videos on youtube, my foot work is pretty good and I will admit I dance around sometimes but by watching Tunney and Ali (prime Ali not "rope-a-dope Ali) I saw how I could combine my foot work and long reach (as well as my size) to my advantage and it helped me become better, you should practice every style you can  when sparring and watch videos of fighters that were similar to you and see how it works you are a heavy weight (albeit not a big one) and your height is not bad (about the average size for your weight) you are not too heavy and I assume that your reach is not going to be too long since you are six feet tall, you are probably likely to do the most damage from the inside throwing quick jabs and crosses (if your hook is so so then you are better off using it occasionally just as an add on punch at the end of a quick combination) this also depends on your ability to take a hit (in fighters usually get hit more because they have to be close to their opponents) and your speed, Tyson,Dempsey and marciano were all smaller than their opponents at the heavy weight level but they turned out successful, Tunney,Mayweather and Wilfredo benitez are also boxers who are relatively lighter than their opponents and have managed to become amazing counter punchers, I suggest you watch all these guys and experiment while sparring with your friends and see which style you like best, eventually you will find one that works best for you (that's the beauty of boxing, there is always stuff to learn),good look and message me if you need any more advice.

  5. i suggest a sugar foot stance with your front foot always working for position inside of your opponents front foot..use your reach by popping that jab to direct your combos...
