I was thinking of starting boxing during the summer and i just wanted to prep myself up before i actually get into it...(alwaays nice to surprise peoplee, yaknoww? ;] ). and i'm currently getting homeschoooled so i have a ton of timee that i can use to get in shaape and it would be reaally helpful if someone can make a full routine to get me ready.

i have a speedbag and a heavybag, and you can also put jogging and jumproping in the routine as well.

and can you put it in detail of what different combinations i should work on (left jab, right hook, etc etc).

i also lift weights and it would be cool to know what muscles are mainly used during boxing so i can concentrate on those muscle groups.

i can do it everyday, and train more than once everyday too for over about a 4-6 week period.

thaanks.

  1. Check this page out:

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/a_totw24...

and if it's not quite what your looking for, browse the site =)

  2. theres alot you can do, No sugar, No salts, No soda. Eat right, Cardio daily, Basic P.E. Heavy bag and speed bag work outs. Also protien shakes are good.

  3. hmm well im 14 and i got in a fight with 16 year old and won best combination is right hook left hook right jab left hook. try to get all of them to the face.

  4. one way to get your arm muscles ready is by doing pushups, because a punch is basically a fast pushup on the other person's body, so pushups, and when u get ready put weights on your back and do the pushups. Then, you should also work on your biceps for your upper cut, and that is about it for the weights

  5. Go and do a few lessons at a boxing gym. They'll teach you all you need to continue doing it at home.

  6. Its not hard

Punch the bag hard again and again

  7. there are some books at barnes and noble, where you can get books that show you how to train. i bought one that was written by joe frazier, you should just buy that.

  8. Bogen Monkey thus far has the best advice. Before you do bag work on your own learn the basics correctly or you will be a nightmare to train. If you keep hitting the bag the wrong way you will also move the wrong way, bounce the wrong way & many, many other things do the wrong way.

Self taught "boxers" give themselves bad habits, don't do this to yourself, learn it correctly the 1st time & you will move along much better.

Good Luck its a great sport.!!

  9. You don't need weights as much as you'd think.  The heavy bag is THE most important piece of equipment you need.  Don't cruise through a bag routine with light punches.  You need to be mentally tough in order to withstand serious blows to your noggin.  Your body needs to be able to burn calories just as fast as you can spit.  Hit the bag hard and work hard.  The jump rope keeps your heart pumping and improves stamina.  Also it helps you move your feet and keeps your body in motion.  Overall you must hit the bag with all you got and move around in order to improve accuracy.  With that said, have you ever been in a fight?  No matter how much you work out, if your body isn't built to take a blow you will fail in the ring.

All in all...good luck and seek professional help.  Your knowledge of boxing can only take you so far.  Trainers with years of experience will be able to teach you what you need.  The gym I used to go to closed down because the owner didn't have enough students.  It was called Pug's Gym in Palatine, IL.  I would say if you have the time, check out a local gym and put yourself into a sparring session with someone of your skill level.
