Boxing Update: Harrison Vows To Take Over David Haye
Audley Harrison, the former Boxing Olympic Champion has challenged David Haye to face him in the ring during Manchester’s Men Arena going to be held on November 13th. Harrison, the 39-years old boxer, while talking to the media reporters said
that he was feeling sorry for Haye, he claimed to give him “a beating in love, for the good of his ego.”
Harrison, who has lately been in England to put finishing touches to his preparations for the November event after a thorough training camp at California, expressed his views about the London dweller Haye . He was reported on saying that his ego was way
out of control, though he had compassion for the boxer, but he was going to get schooled in the art of boxing.
While challenging Haye to come into the ring, Harrison also claimed that now he was a changed man, and a way better fighter. From a fighter who had been failing for ten consecutive years in delivering his oft repeated promises of world glory, as he claimed,
he was altogether a reformed boxer now. “I was the hottest prospect in boxing, I fell off, but I persevered, didn’t give up and I found my way back,”
Harrison stated.
He claimed for depicting an image before the spectators. Referring to his fight against Michael Sprott, in which the later was knocked out in the twelfth round, he said that he had fought the guy single handily for eight rounds, which compelled the people
to form an admiration for him. After the fight, according to the fighter, his spectators had developed the belief in him that he had got heart and character.
“But I have always had character, always had heart, that just gave me the opportunity to show it, and 12 rounds under those circumstances bode well for this fight,”
said the boxer.
Pondering upon his strategy and confidence for the future fights, Harrison said that he was going to stand on the starting line with the belief that he had the ability and desire to win. He’ll be throwing the shots as if nothing else was important for him
than winning. According to him, that was the depiction of a totally different Audley Harrison.
He was of the view that the hard trainings had made him more than a puncher, now he could not only punch better, he had also got the pedigree and the right team who had taught him about how to fight and to opt for the basic fundamentals of the ring. He claimed
to have the edge for possessing brain over brawn, while David Haye had got brawn over brain.
Discussing about the future fight he was going to have on November 13th, Harrison claimed that Haye would really have to try hard to avoid his punches, but it was not possible for him to do so all night; at some point, he would have to taste the
leather. He accepted the fact that the fight would not be one-sided as both of them would be throwing power punches, and spectators would have to see what happens from there.
Harrison believed that considering his true British spirit and perseverance, the local spectators were coming over to his side. He was of the view that despite of being booed at during the boxing matches, when he would walk down the ring, he had had nothing
but requests for autographs and people constantly telling him to go on. The boxer also claimed that majority of the British spectators were not boxing fans, rather they were Audley fans who had brought the Olympic gold medal for the country.
While concluding his remarks, Harrison said that he had overcome the odds and was now ready to build to the crescendo where people would think of him as the guy who could deliver. “The story resonates with people because we have all got dreams and hopes
and desires and all I have been is a man who is stuck to his gun and has never given up,” the boxer stated.
