I would say that Martial arts wins EVERY time. Boxing is too one dimensional and boring.

  1. The world "martial" is a direct reference to real, actual, physical combat.  Boxing is a sport, with rules, no weapons and a structured system of scoring.  Martial art, regardless of style ultimately is of a much wider scope with many additional aspects that boxing doesn't even consider.  Comparing the two would be similar to comparing an NFL football squad to an infantry unit of a similar size, I don't care how good Bret Farve's pass protection and arm was, it couldn't stand up to a rifle squad with M-16's.  I agree, Martial art wins, every time depending on how you define "victory".  In Martial arts victory equals survival, defeat in it's ultimate form is death.  Boxing, for all it's violence almost never results in death.

For argument's sake one could claim "boxing" is a "Martial Art" and a part is never greater than the whole.

  2. boxing is martial arts therefore your question makes no sense. I think what you mean to ask is boxing versus a martial arts which allows kicking. the answer to that is both yes and no. traditional boxers often train much harder than a lot of martial arts schools do; however, someone who trains in other martial arts hard and is a good fighter will have an advantage b/c boxers do not train to avoid leg kicks which could be their downfall.

  3. No way do they win every time. Boxing has a lot to it hands, combos, footwork, blocks, parries, slips, ducks , inner slips and outer slips. Some of the combinations almost are like a zen for the boxer.

  4. Don't rule out kickboxing. This is where the one-sided choice ends. With kickboxing, there is boxing but there are also karate kicks as well.

So boxing and martial arts will end up in a tie instead of a win....

  5. Boxing is not boring. I'll take any Michael Katsidis fight over any UFC fight every time.  Also, martial arts would not win every time. One punch from a boxer with the gloves a UFC guy uses and its lights out baby.

  6. boxing isnt boring, watch some rocky balboa dvds or something you see games based on boxing but you hardly see one game with martial arts written on the front of it

    think about it "champ"

  7. What's the best UFC fight ever, according to the UFC?  Stephan Bonner vs Forrest Griffin.  Watch it, and you'll see that it's exciting because both men stand and trade punches (and very occasionally, kicks) just like...wait for it...BOXERS.

I've been watching MMA since the inception of the UFC, back when it was a banned, underground sport.  I've always liked it, so I'm not prejudice here.  But there's NO comparison in action or drama when you put it up against boxing.  I could name off a half dozen boxing matches from the last 12 months ALONE that blow away anything MMA has ever seen.

Here's a few in the last year alone:

    Miguel Cotto v Shane Mosley

Israel Vasquez v Rafael Marquez I, II, and III

Manny Pacquiao v Juan Manual Marquez II

Jaidon Codrington v Sakio Bika (recent The Contender finale)

Kelly Pavlik v Jermain Taylor I and II

    Joe Calzaghe v Mikkel Kessler

ALL amazing fights.  Check 'em out!

People think that because the heavyweights are a weak division right now that all of boxing is boring, but if you watch ANYTHING from light heavyweight down to bantamweight you'll get tons of exciting fights.

    Enjoy...

  8. but if i boxer and a martial artists were to fight in a boxing match....?

  9. Not everytime. I am a kickboxer who fought against boxers before and let me tell you this, never underestimate a boxer. Martial artist might have more weapons and skills like submissions and kicks but a boxer is in better condition most of the time because there is more money in boxing so they train harder. When I fought as a kickboxer, I still had to work full time so my training time is limited compare to a boxer. Also a boxer handspeed is always dangerous.
