So I'm challenging myself by sparring with my friend who is a good 30-40 pounds heavier than me. I definetly think its going to be a challenge. Does anybody have any good tips on boxing someone that is heavier than you?

  1. don't spar him, go to a boxing gym, get a trainer, and learn to box for real

  2. Keep the fight at a technical level and punch to score points as opposed to going for a knockout. Constant movement will hopefully wear down your opponent. If he's big, fast, and his cardio is up to par. I dont know what to say then...

  3. Don't try standing toe to toe with the guy, chances are he will hit harder. Just keep jabing and moving, throwing combos and keep out of his reach

  4. Tell the ref a woman is flashing you and kick the cherries while he looks away.

  5. tough call,

Watch the lyoto machida vs tito ortiz ufc fight that happened last weekend. Watch how lyoto avoids most of ortiz's hits.

just an idea, i know its nowhere near the same style of fighting.

  6. Keep out of his reach.  Box!  Make him chase you.  Hopefully his cardio aint that great and you can fatigue him.
